FAQs

What is rTMS Therapy?

rTMS stands for repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. It is a noninvasive treatment usedto treat depression. rTMS is associated with very few, if any, side effects and is well tolerated by most people.

How does rTMS Therapy work?

The rTMS therapy system uses short pulses of magnetic fields to stimulate the areas of thebrain that are responsible for mood regulation, similar to the pulses of an MRI.

Is rTMS therapy covered by my insurance?

Yes, rTMS is covered by most insurances, including Medicare and Tricare.
Is rTMS Therapy like other alternative therapies which use magnets to treat some illnesses?
No. rTMS Therapy involves a unique method of using pulsed magnetic fields for therapeutic benefit. The intensity of the magnetic field is similar to that of the magnetic fields used in magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI. These techniques differ radically from the popular use of low intensity, static magnetic fields. These products deliver weak and undirected static fields that are not capable of activating brain cells.
